The one that got away

For weeks now, I've been treating my body like a machine.

I expect it to keep going and going and never give in.

And that's OK. Because it is a machine. It can keep going. As long as I treat it right. Give it the fuel it needs.

My body is my temple, right? Well my temple feels like a landfill.

I watch(read) Baboo, who truly is a machine. Event after event. Tough! Or Lucho, talk about a machine. Watching him run is more like a work of art than a workout.

But both of these people and hundreds of people out there (including my competition) fuel themselves right.

This isn't a Sprint. This isn't an Oly. I'm working on the Half and focusing on the full.

I can't keep shoving crap into me and not expect me to be...crap.

Garbage in garbage out.

So true. I've really been focussing on eating healthier the past 2 weeks, and it has made a huge difference in how I feel (except for one swim where I didn't eat enough before). Anyway, so I've been all in a good mood and sweet and stuff, too! Jeff doesn't know what to think of it!!

Dude, I leave for 2 days and you fall apart!!! WTH!!

Stick to the Lite beers and salsa!
Seriously tho, keep up the great training and yes, pick better foods to help recover faster!
You're gonna rock that 1/2!!

I have been learning this the hard way myself the past few weeks. I ate a box of my beloved mac and cheese for dinner a couple of weeks ago and my stomach ached all night.

My stomach NEVER used to ache (think garbage disposal). Now it throws a tantrum if I even look at crap. It's almost like it knows . . . and it always wins. Cause if your stomach acts up you're pretty much useless right?

Good luck with it -- I think almost everyone struggles with the lure of crap food on some level.

I am pledging to write down the food along with the workouts...

we'll see... I also think we naturally have little letdowns etc..that pop up several times a year.... no biggy... most of us endurance folks jump back on the good bus..

Hey man, thanks for the props! You are right you do have to eat good foods the majority of the time but here is the cool thing...train like a machine - eat like a machine!

They don't call nutrition the fourth discipline of tri for nothing. Good luck with figuring out how to feed the machine!
